No reason to close schools due to outbreak of disease: Delhi govt

After the outbreak of viral diseases among students from primary sections of Sardar Patel Vidyalaya, Lodhi Estate, the director of education for the city sent out circulars on Wednesday to all schools in Delhi to take extra precaution to curb viral infection among children.
Amit Singla, director of education, said, ‘In order to curb the spread of viral infection among children, there is no need to close the primary sections of schools. In the circular we have asked schools to maintainable hygiene. School authorities should ask their students to wear full sleeves shirts. We have received data from the health section of Delhi government regarding the spread of a viral diseases that affects only young children. This disease has surfaced in several schools across the capital.’
‘As per the circular every vice-principal of the school should act as the nodal health officer of the school. If for some reason the nodal officer is not present, the principal of the school will act as the nodal officer. We have directed schools to ask their children to wear long trousers, so that the body can be covered’, he added.
R K Sharma, principal, Ahlcon Public School, Mayur Vihar, said, ‘Shutting down schools is not the solution to this problem. How long you will shut down your schools?’
