No plan to up subsidised LPG cylinders, says Moily

‘We don’t have such a proposal before us,’ Moily, who arrived here in connection with the formal commissioning of the Petronet LNG terminal at nearby Puthyvype by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, told reporters here.

‘Nine subsidised cylinders a year covers 90 per cent of consumers. Only 10 per cent are left without subsidy,’ he noted. People will appreciate the Government’s stand, he said. On Thursday, Finance Minister P Chidambaram had said that the centre would ‘take a look’ at the demand to raise the quota of subsidised LPG cylinders to 12 per household per year from the current nine.
