No one can ignore Lalu in Bihar: Tariq Anwar

Nationalist Congress Party  (NCP) general secretary and union minister of state for agriculture and food processing Tariq Anwar said Lalu factor will reign supreme in Bihar despite his conviction in fodder scam.

‘'We have to admit that Lalu factor is still riding high in Bihar and  no one can deny it,’ he told reporters here on Sunday.

‘No one can ignore Lalu Prasad in Bihar politics and we have to wait and watch the impact of his conviction,’ he said without elaborating any further.

Commenting on the NCP’s preparedness for the Lok Sabha elections, the NCP leader said the party is yet to come out with any strategy for the elections. ‘In UP, we are waiting for normalcy of the situation in the wake of the Muzaffarnagar riots and then only NCP will decide on the candidates and alliance for the Lok Sabha polls,’ he  said.

Anwar, however, blamed BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi for the Muzaffarnagar riots. This was done with a design to polarise voters before elections,’ the NCP leader said, adding that Uttar Pradesh chief minister Akhilesh Yadav too has failed to meet the expectations of people.

Earlier, he met UP Governor BL Joshi demanding that he should to use his good office to make the situation normal in Muzaffarnagar and its adjoining areas besides setting up of fast track court for speedy trial of the guilty people.

‘NCP had sent a five-member delegation to Muzaffarnagar and they have submitted a report to the party president and union agriculture minister Sharad Pawar stating that the people staying in the relief camps are still suffering from fear and they are not ready to return to their villages,’ Anwar said.
He demanded that the UP government should also expedite in providing giving jobs and compensation to the families of the riot victims.
