No monkey act: Madari murdered for not letting animals be sloshed

Police on Wednesday claimed to have solved the bizarre murder of a man had been found dead near the New Delhi railway station on 15 August. According to police officials, the victim, a madari (one who performs road-side tricks with a money)had been killed for allegedly trying to stop the accused from making the victim’s monkeys drink alcohol.
According to the police, the body of a man, who has been identified as Irfan, a 35-year-old resident of Kalandar colony, in north-east Delhi’s Seemapuri area was found near the New Delhi railway station on 15 August. It was later found that Irfan had been a madari.
'The body was taken to the Lok Nayak Hospital, where he was declared brought dead. Blood stained pieces of bricks were recovered from the spot where the body was found,' said the police official investing the case.
The accused identified as Ram Babu alias Ghochu Pehlwan was subjected to sustained interrogation by the police, after which he narrated the whole incident. According to the accused, he had befriended Irfan the two had started drinking alcohol together.
Later, in an inebriated state, Ghochu started giving liquor to Irfan's monkeys. Irfan objected to this, which resulted in a fight between the two, during which Ghochu Pehlwan allegedly hit the deceased with a brick on his head which resulted in his death.
'When Irfan lost consciousness, Ghochu Pehlwan, who had also been injured in the fight, fled from the spot. Ghochu had also been an accused in a murder that took place in 1994 and had remained in jail for several years' said Ravindra Yadav, additional commissioner of police, crime branch.
