No horse trading for govt formation in Delhi: BJP

Aam Aadmi Party MLA Rajesh Garg had alleged that the BJP is offering handsome money for supporting government formation in Delhi. Modi is not in a mood to encourage any horse trading and other means of government formation. Soon after the PM made it clear that no hurry should be made to form the government in Delhi, many BJP legislators held separate meetings with their seniors to get a sense on how to proceed further. The party leaders are said to have told the legislators to take a pragmatic view on whether the government formation would go in favour of the party, which got an absolute majority in the recent Lok Sabha elections. Sources said that Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung too was in the process of setting up an all party body which could directly discuss the pressing issues of the party legislators with senior officials of the city administration.

A highly placed source said that Modi does not want to take any step which could raise questions on the party’s image. ‘If MLAs of the AAP or the Congress want to support us, they should make it public. We do not want to form any government on which one can raise fingers,’ a senior local saffron leader told this newspaper. It is learnt that a large number of BJP legislators held separate meetings with senior party leaders Rajnath Singh, Arun Jaitley and Nitin Gadkari.

At Raj Niwas, there are indications that the LG may ask the Congress, the BJP and AAP to nominate one member each so that they can raise issues of their respective legislators with officials of the city administration.
