‘No hopes from all-party meet on Telangana’

A day ahead of the all-party meeting on Telangana issue in New Delhi, Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) chief K Chandrasekhara Rao said he and the people of the region have no hopes from it.

Talking to reporters  on Thursday before leaving for the national capital, he said he would be attending the meet for the sake of Telangana and for the reason that he believes in democracy.

KCR, as Rao is popularly known, termed the all-party meet a gimmick by the Congress party.

‘It agreed for the meeting to get votes of Congress MPs from Telangana during voting in parliament on foreign direct investment (FDI),’ the Mahabubnagar MP said.

The TRS leader said if Congress was sincere in carving out Telangana state, it would not have dragged the issue for last three years even after announcing that the process for formation of the state would be initiated.’If it was sincere it could have long back tabled a bill in parliament,’ he added.

Meanwhile, Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and YSR Congress party Thursday named their representatives for the meet called by Union Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde. Eight political parties with two representatives from each have been invited to the meet. All major political parties are sending a representative each from Telangana and Seemandhra (Rayalaseema and Andhra regions).
