No calls made on anti-corruption helpline to remain unanswered

Within less than 100 hours of its launch, the Delhi government’s Anti-Corruption Helpline answered a total of 32,489 telephone calls till 5 pm on Thursday.

“So far, the facilitators working with the helpline team have found 70 complaints of serious nature, which have been referred to the Anti Corruption Branch (ACB) for further probe and necessary action,” said a press statement.

The helpline team has so far forwarded 163 calls to the facilitators for further action and of these, 70 have been found to be fit for further probe by the ACB and 82 have been rejected. Eleven complaints are still pending with facilitators.

“Efforts are being made to ensure that no call made on the 1031 helpline number remains unanswered,” said senior officials of Delhi government.

“The helpline staffers have been instructed to provide all possible encouragement to callers for registering their complaints against corruption,” said a senior officer.

Even in cases, in which the complainant is unable to provide details of suspects, the call should be forwarded to facilitators so that they can get the details and ensure the sting operation of officials seeking bribe from public.
