Apart from questioning the detainees to establish the identity of the accused, the police is also examining the CCTV footages of a similar heist in Palam Vihar area of Gurgaon. Police officials believe the accused were same in both the cases.
“We are using experts for the purpose. They are studying physical features, body language and modus-operandi of the accused in both the cases. The probability of the assailants being same in both the cases is now more than 90 per cent,” said a police official close to investigation.
A few days ago, an ATM guard was shot at by two unidentified assailants during an attempt of robbery in Palam Vihar. The accused couldn’t open the trunk carrying the cash and later dropped it at a secluded park. When CCTV footages of both incidents were compared, police found several similarities between the accused. “The accused were dressed up in a similar fashion, used similar motor bike (a black Bajaj Pulsar) and their body language was found to be quite the same”, the police officer added. He further said no persons were detained for questioning on Monday.
The registration number of the bike used in the crime was also found to be allotted to a resident of north west Delhi.
“When he was interrogated, it emerged that he had lent the motorbike to his driver who was out of station on Sunday. When the driver was called up, he said that the motorbike was with him”, he revealed. The bag of cash robbed from Kamla Nagar was later found at north Delhi’s Sabji Mandi area.
