A mobile phone, laptop, dairies and other documents that were recovered by investigators from Geetika Sharma’s residence were sent for forensic examination on Monday. Sharma, 23, a former air hostess, was found hanging from a ceiling fan at her Ashok Vihar residence on Sunday.
Her suicide note mentions Haryana politician Gopal Kanda and Aruna Chadha, a manager in the now defunct Kanda-owned MDLR Airlines where Geetika used to work as the people responsible for her death.
Delhi police is waiting for the reports before taking further action against Kanda, who has been booked for abetment of suicide.
‘Ankit Ahluwalia, Kanda’s legal advisor, along with Aruna Chadha, are supposed to come to the police station for investigations on Tuesday. The probe is on and it will take some time to confirm the real cause behind the extreme step taken by Sharma,’ said P Karmakaran, deputy commissioner of police (north-west).
Gaurav Sharma, Geetika’s elder brother, told media on Monday, ‘Geetika’s suicide note mentions Ankita, who is involved in an illicit relationship with Kanda. The two also have a daughter. Geetika told us about Kanda’s interest in women and Ankita is an example of it.’ After Geetika’s death, her family members are living under extreme stress. On Monday, the family demanded justice for their daughter’s mysterious death. They also want a death sentence for Kanda. The politician resigned from the Haryana cabinet, of which he was a member, on Sunday evening.
‘Some photographs collected from Sharma’s house show her in Kanda’s company. The post-mortem report would be available by Tuesday,’ said P Karmakaran.
It was learnt that the suicide note written by Geetika Sharma, was written on two separate dates. One was written in May, while the other was written in August.
Kanda’s MDLR airline ceased to function in 2009 and Sharma was given a job in another company owned by him, police said. Sharma had joined MDLR in 2006 as an air-hostess. In 2009, she quit her job and left the country to work with Emirates airlines. However, she had only worked there for a few months before returning to the country. In 2010, she again joined MDLR, this time as an executive director, police said. According to the victim’s brother, Gaurav Sharma, his sister was being psychologically harassed by Kanda and Aruna Chadha.
