Nitish quiet on MLAs’ request, may name successor soon


However, the JD (U) legislature party on Sunday unanimously decided that Nitish Kumar continues as CM. A JD(U) leader, who attended the meeting at CM’s official residence here, said that JD(U) legislature party expressed its full faith in Nitish Kumar and decided to re-elect him as their leader. Senior JD (U) legislator Narendra Singh, who was speculated to replace Kumar as chief minister, moved a resolution that the later will be the leader was supported by all legislators present in the meeting.  However, Kumar has sought time to consider the request of legislators.

Sources said that there was a possibility that Law, Planning and Development minister Narendra Narayan Yadav emerging as dark horse in case of Nitish deciding not to reconsider his decision his decision to quit. Yadav, who represents Alamnagar assembly segment of Madhepura parliamentary seat, is acceptable to both the chief minister and party president Sharad Yadav.
