‘Nitish is bigger culprit than Lalu’

“Nitish Kumar has harmed (the state) more than Lalu Prasad and is hence a bigger culprit. He derailed a speeding train by snapping ties with BJP without a valid reason whereas Lalu Prasad’s RJD had derailed only a stationary train,” Sushil Modi told a private TV channel. “Bihar was speeding fast on the path of development during NDA <g data-gr-id="19">rule</g> but you (Nitish Kumar) derailed the speeding train in the name Narendra Modi after he was made Prime Ministerial candidate of the BJP,” said Sushil Modi, who was deputy chief minister during NDA rule in the state, Prasad had shaken a little a stationary train it had inherited from Congress in 1990,” said Sushil Modi, who was leader of opposition during RJD rule.

Asked as why BJP-led NDA was not declaring its candidate for chief minister’s post when the secular alliance has already named Nitish Kumar, Sushil Modi, who is rated as a frontrunner for it, said the decision would be taken by the party’s Parliamentary board. “In any case we have a captain in PM Narendra Modi for Bihar elections. So how can it be said that our team is without a captain?” he said.

Modi said people of the state can never forget the <g data-gr-id="14">15 year</g> ‘jungle raj’ of RJD when the crime situation was at its worst. He said he knew Prasad for 45 years and was general secretary of Patna University Union when Lalu was its president and knew he could never be serious on development matter.

I belong to pro-Advani camp: Shotgun
Marginalised in BJP, MP Shatrughan Sinha on Friday said his sidelining by the party leadership was <g data-gr-id="78">possibly</g> because he “belonged to pro-Advani camp”. Sinha, <g data-gr-id="77">a MP</g> from Patna Sahib, said he was hurt at not being given an important role in the NDA campaign in Bihar polls.

He also heaped praise on Nitish Kumar, calling him one of the best chief ministers in the country and said friendship was not party-bound. Asked whether he was sidelined within the party because he was seen siding with L K Advani during the prime ministerial race in BJP before the Lok Sabha elections, he told ‘India Today’ “<g data-gr-id="75">May be</g> I am being targeted because I belong to pro-Advani camp”.

Nitish trashes BJP claim on ‘jungle raj’ rerun in Bihar
With BJP cautioning people against possible return of ‘jungle raj’ in the wake of the JD(U) alliance with RJD, Bihar CM Nitish Kumar on Friday discounted the possibility and said it was made to deflect focus from the development plank of the combine.

“Do not get frightened by such propaganda...it is nothing but an attempt to divert attention from development issues in the elections,” said Kumar. “Where is the jungle raj?” he wondered and sought to know from the public whether women and families did not move around freely after dusk. “At no cost return of jungle raj would be allowed in the state. Rule of law prevails in Bihar and would continue in the future also,” Kumar said in a bid to allay misgivings about his joining hands with Lalu Prasad.
