NIOS holds silver jubilee lecture

National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) organised a talk as part of the series of lectures being held to mark its silver jubilee at the NIESBUD building on Monday. Som Naidu, associate professor and director (learning and teaching) at Charles Sturt University in south Australia, spoke on ‘reflecting on open educational practices’, explaining how the rising phenomenon of Massive Open Online Courses (MOOC) is transforming the traditional education system in the country.
Naidu appreciated the work done by Open Educational Resources (OER), which provides teaching, learning and research materials in varied formats. Open University is a virtual collaboration of like-minded institutions creating flexible pathways for OER learners to gain formal academic credit. Also present in the occasion were NIOS chairman SS Jena and secretary UN Khaware.
