Nine hurt in accident

Nine persons were injured in a road accident when a Maruti Eeco van rammed a divider and further collided with an electric pole. The accident took place around 10 pm on Saturday, when the van was going from Kashmere Gate to shahdara. According to police, the van was loaded with eight passengers. In the mid-way, the driver of the van who was driving the car at a high speed felt sleepy. Further, the van rammed a divider near Kashmeri Gate area and later collided with the pole. 'In the accident, about nine persons including the driver have received injuries. They all were taken to four separate hospitals where four persons have been discharged while the remaining five persons are still undergoing treatment. The driver is in critical condition that is why his statement has not be recorded,' the official added. The cops have taken the Maruti Eeco under their custody and have registered a complaint against the driver for rash and negligence driving.
