Night buses flagged off

Transport Minister Ramakant Goswami flagged off 47 more night service DTC buses on Thursday night. Earlier, it was planned that the buses will be launched in a few more days. The buses were flagged off from the Shadipur Depot.

Now, in total, 89 night service buses will ply on the roads of the Capital, available  from 11 pm to 5.30  am. The  move is intended to provide safe public transport, in the wake of the 16 December gangrape in the capital.

Of these 89 buses, 76 will have low floor and 13 will be the standard floor buses. As many as 100 Home Guards have also been deployed. Every bus will have a  Home Guard in proper uniform  and with identity cards. Drivers and conductors will also carry IDs.

The buses would ply at a frequency of 10- 50 minutes on 22 routes, covering almost all areas of Delhi.
