Nigerian national held with heroin worth Rs 2.5 crore

Heroin worth Rs 2.50 crore in the international market was recovered by Delhi Police after the arrest of a foreign national involved in drug trafficking, from Dwarka Mor, on Tuesday.
So far in 2014, Delhi Police has recovered more than 123 Kg heroin from the national capital, which happens to be the highest heroin recovery ever.
As narrated by a senior police official, a foreign national possessing 2.5 Kg fine quality heroin was apprehended from south-west Delhi, based on a tip-off that the accused was to strike a deal at a specific time. The recovery is worth around Rs 2.50 crore in the international market, police informed.
The accused, Stanley Bright (26), hails from Nigeria and was staying in Delhi for the past one year. His sister has a garment business in Nigeria, and Stanley had come here to export her clothes from India. Soon after his arrival in India, his sister’s business started incurring huge loss. In the mean time, he met another Nigerian national in Delhi, who lured him into drug trafficking, said Ashok Chand, Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime).
He further said, ‘Stanley admitted that he used to export drugs to Nigeria through different channels. In fact, after the preliminary search on Tuesday, he was found to have hidden heroin in cavities of high-heel sandals, garments, baby carry bags and packets of shoe laces packed in two cartons.’
With Stanley’s arrest, total heroin recovery by Delhi Police so far in 2014, has touched 123.659 Kgs.
