Nigerian national held with cocaine worth Rs 1.20 crore

A Nigerian national was arrested by the Delhi Police after it got a tip-off from a young informer who was previously a drug addict. Police have recovered cocaine worth Rs 1.22 crore from the accused.

According to the police, on March 9, they got a tip-off from the young informer that the accused, Femi Elihja would come to Inderlok to supply 10 gm of drugs. Based on this information, a trap was laid and Femi was apprehended.

“During sustained interrogation, Femi admitted that he came to India in 2011 and lost his passport. To sustain himself, he noticed the craze for drugs among young people and therefore, started selling drugs to college students and even supplied drugs for rave parties,” said Madhur Verma, Deputy Commissioner of Police (North).

“He told us that his friend, Kelvin received drugs at Mumbai and hid them in the form of protein shake parcels which were further sent undetected to the airports. Apart from Mumbai, the parcels used to be sent from Goa through Femi’s friend John. He further told us that after giving 10 gm drugs at Inderlok, he was heading towards the Delhi University area to sell his remaining stuff,” added Verma.

A case has been registered under relevant sections of NDPS Act and Section 14 of the Foreigners Act at the Sarai Rohilla police station against Femi. Investigation is on to nab the other accused persons.
