NIELIT sets target of training 55 lakh students in ICT

<g data-gr-id="23">Government</g> laid the foundation of National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT) at Dwarka on Thursday. It highlighted the importance of skill development in making National Digital Literacy Mission and Digital India Campaign successful.

The government unveiled a national toll-free helpline number 1800-11-65-11 for NIELIT students.

Speaking on the occasion, IT and <g data-gr-id="19">Communication</g> minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said, “A digital revolution has begun in the country.  NIELIT will be the centre of digital empowerment in India by minimizing the digital divide through skill development and by providing basic digital literacy at a click of a button.”  He also participated in a tree plantation initiative.

A few MPs and MLAs were also present at the event along with MD, NIELIT, Ashwini Kumar Sharma.
NIELIT has trained over 20 lakh students in the past two decades across its 31 centres. NIELIT has also set <g data-gr-id="18">target</g> of training 55 lakh students in ICT for jobs, ESDM and Digital Marketing courses in the coming 4-5 years.
