NHRC notice to K’taka DGP

Taking cognisance of the alleged assault on and stripping of a Tanzanian student in Bengaluru, the NHRC has issued notices to the Chief Secretary and the DGP of Karnataka government, seeking a report on the matter within two weeks.

“If the contents of the (media) report are true, it would amount to a serious violation of human rights including racism,” the Commission said in the notices.
