NHPC energises FY15 profit by over 2 times

NHPC Ltd’s net profit increased from Rs 978.79 crore in fiscal 2013-14 to Rs 2124.47 crore in 2014-15 and the company achieved sales realisation of Rs 5883.32 crore during 2014-15. The company’s Board has recommended a final dividend of Re 0.60 per share for the period.

NHPC added 130 <g data-gr-id="11">mw</g> to its installed capacity during 2014-15 with the commencement of commercial operations at Unit IV of Parbati-III Power Station. It also formed a subsidiary, Bundelkhand Saur Urja Ltd, to implement its 50-mw solar power project in Uttar Pradesh. 

NHPC signed a pact with the West Bengal government and WB State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd for <g data-gr-id="15">development</g> of four hydroelectric projects in the Teesta basin, with a total estimated capacity of 293 <g data-gr-id="12">mw</g>. These projects would be developed on <g data-gr-id="14">build</g>, own, operate and maintain (BOOM) basis. 

K M Singh appointed new CMD
K M Singh has been appointed as the Chairman & Managing Director of state-run power producer NHPC with immediate effect. “Ministry of Power vide its order dated September 23, <g data-gr-id="46">2015</g> has appointed K M Singh as Chairman & Managing Director of the company w.e.f. September 23, 2015,” NHPC said in a regulatory filing. “Accordingly, R S T Sai ceased to be Chairman & Managing Director of the Company with immediate effect,” it said. Prior to his appointment as the CMD of NHPC, Singh was the Chief Executive Director of NHDC, a joint venture firm of NHPC and state government of Madhya Pradesh. Government <g data-gr-id="39">head-hunter</g> Public Enterprises Selection Board had earlier recommended K M Singh’s name for the post of Chairman and Managing Director of NHPC. Singh was recommended by Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) from a list of 12 contenders who were interviewed during the selection process., according to information on PESB website.
