Neyveli Lignite Corp Q2 net up 8% to Rs 259 cr

State-run Neyveli Lignite Corporation (NLC) on Friday reported an 8 per cent growth in profit after tax to Rs 259.35 crore for the second quarter of the current fiscal. It had reported a Rs 240 crore net profit in the July- September quarter of last fiscal.
'During the second quarter of 2014-15, sales turnover stands at Rs 1,402.49 crore as compared to Rs 1,382.82 crore for the same period in the previous year,' the company said in a statement.
Neyveli operates three lignite mines with a total capacity of 30.60 million tonnes and three thermal power stations with a total installed capacity of 2,740 MW.
For the first half of the current fiscal (April- September), its profit after tax rose to Rs 593.40 crore, from Rs 518.43 crore a year ago.
'During the first half of the financial year 2014-15, NLC has generated 9,983.10 million units of power, achieving 100.04 per cent of the set target,' it said.
