Newborn boy stolen from hospital ward

A newborn boy was allegedly stolen from the Rao Tula Ram Memorial Hospital in Jaffarpur Kalan area of west Delhi on Friday morning.

According to police, the three-day-old boy belongs to a couple from Makdola village in Haryana. They allege that the boy was kidnapped from the ward by a woman posing as a nursing attendant.
The mother of the child was admitted to the hospital in Jaffarpur Kalan on Monday. Geeta had come to the hospital with her husband Ajay. They first met the accused in the ward where they struck a conversation around 10.45 am on Friday.

Later, the woman volunteered to take care of the boy for some time as Ajay went to fetch medicines for Geeta. By the time he came back, neither the woman nor his son could be seen anywhere. They searched for the child, but failed after which they informed police.

Police have checked the CCTV footage and registered a case of kidnapping against the unidentified woman.

According to the Medical Superintendent of the Hospital Dr S K Jain, “We had conducted an internal enquiry which revealed that a woman wearing apron and stethoscope had taken the child from the mother around noon on the pretext of carrying out an ultra-sound.”
