Uttar Pradesh State Industrial Development Corporation (UPSIDC) has signed a MoU with Tehri Hydropower Development Corporation for the transfer of land to construct a 1,320 MW power generation unit in Khurja.
This move is very significant as it will boost the power distribution scenario in UP and Delhi, which are badly affected by power shortages. With the MoU, the two public sector entities will be able to have a smooth transfer of 1,200 acres of land for constructing a super thermal power plant in Khurja.
According to power corporation officials, supply in Gautam Budh Nagar and other western parts of the state are expected to improve, following the commissioning of the plant.
