New skill policy will be in place after govt parleys, says Sonowal

Expecting that the NDA government at the centre under the leadership of prime minister Narendra Modi will help making India as the Skill Capital of the world, minister of state (I/C) for skill development, entrepreneurship, youth affairs and sports Sarbananda Sonowal on Saturday said, ‘Around half of Indian population is below 25 years, which can be trained and developed into skilled work force. The youth should be trained in such a way they would get suitable jobs.’

Sonowal, while informing about the skilled work force potential in the country, said, ‘This is appropriate time to unleash the talents of the country make India a skill capital of the world.’

The minister, while speaking at a national seminar on Skill India under aegis of PHD Chamber of Commerce, on Saturday also intensified the exercise of consultations with 20 odd ministries of the central government to obtain their inputs for the new skill policy following call from the prime minister to Make India a hub for world manufacturing.

Sonowal also informed that the government has deepened its engagements with countries like Germany, Japan, and South Korea to obtain their skillful methodologies to be made applicable in training Indian youth for jobs and jobs creation.
