Netaji’s grand-nephew, Chandra Kumar Bose, Netaji’s grandnephew and spokesperson of the Bose family will be rubbing shoulders with some members of the British Parliament and other Netaji experts on this occasion.
Said Chandra Kumar Bose, “The RTI Act is very strong in the UK. We want to create pressure on the David Cameron Government so that it reveals classified information that it may possess on Bose’s disappearance since the 1945 Taipei air crash”. Anuj Dhar, author of India’s Biggest Cover up will also speak on the occasion along with Minakshi Ghosh, <g data-gr-id="26">researcher</g> at Oxford University.
The UPA II Government has already de-classified a couple of secret IB files on Netaji in 2012–that have revealed how the British Government in India snooped on Bose’s family members even in the late 60s. These are with the National Archives of India. The Modi government has also set up a Government panel which will look into the whole issue of de-classification of Netaji files.
Also, some family members met up with Modi demanding declassification of all secret files on Bose while the PM was visiting Kolkata on May 9. Modi also told Chandra Bose that he is willing to seek help from foreign countries in order to get to the bottom of the mystery of Netaji’s disappearance in 1945. Parliamentarian Prof <g data-gr-id="31">Sugato</g> Bose, another grand-nephew of Subhas Chandra <g data-gr-id="32">Bose however</g> feels that the British Government has already released a lot of classified information in its possession.
“I have repeatedly said that all secret information more than 50 years old should be made public. Once our IB releases more files on Bose, new facts on Netaji may pop <g data-gr-id="23">out .</g> Same is true for the UK Government files on Subhas Bose”, he told Millennium Post.
