Nepal on Saturday lifted restrictions put on Indian news channels two weeks ago amid the anti-Constitution protests by Indian-origin Madhesis along the Indo-Nepal border.
The restriction on Indian television channels were in place nearly for two weeks have been lifted now, Nepal Cable Television Association said. The cable operators had removed the Indian news channels for some time after the CPN-Maoist led by Netrabikram Chand, the break away faction of UCPN-Maoist, warned against telecasting Indian programmes in Nepal. However, other TV channels continued to broadcast even after the restrictions were imposed on the Indian news channels.
