Nepal, China collaborate to curb rising wildlife crimes

Nepal and China have agreed to step up efforts and enforce a crackdown on illegal wildlife trade along the border areas to enhance trans-boundary cooperation on biodiversity conservation.
‘Nepal isa transit point being used by wildlife crime networks for the illegal export and import of wildlife parts and their derivatives,’ Megh Bahadur Pandey, Director General of Department of National Parks and Wildlife Conservation (DNPWC) of Nepal, said.

‘By working together, Nepal and China will take concerted measures to help put a complete stop to illegal wildlife trade primarily at the border regions of the two countries,’ he said. A three-day workshop that began on 28 August was also organised to identifyissues on illegal wildlife trade.
