Nehru Place to have another Metro station

Nehru Place, the city’s information technology hub, will have an additional Metro station in 2016 when Delhi Metro’s Phase-III will become operational.

The south Delhi locality, home to one of the country’s largest information technology markets, already has a Metro station, on the Central Secretariat-Badarpur corridor. A new Metro station will come up in Nehru Place as part of the Janakpuri West-Botanical Garden corridor that will directly provide a connectivity between south Delhi and the satellite town of Noida. The corridor will also bring the domestic terminal of the Indira Gandhi International Airport under the Metro map.

The new station, an underground one, will be constructed on the Outer Ring Road, just opposite to Paras Cinema. Five entry/ exit points will be constructed for commuters, which includes a subway across the busy Outer Ring Road. While one entry point will be made just near Paras cinema, the other will come up on the road leading to Lady Shriram College.

Three other entry points will be built near Nehru Enclave as well as the Veer Savarkar school near Nehru Place.
