Neha’s family live in fear, want to patch up with Khatris

Days after the prime accused, Naveen Khatri was arrested in connection with the murder of a 21-year-old Delhi University student Aarzoo Singh Chauhan, the girl, who married Naveen Khatri, her parents are living in constant fear of the Khatris’ muscle power.

Planning to go and talk to Naveen’s family once the matter ‘settles’ down, Neha Rathi’s father refuted the allegations that his daughter has registered a case or will do so.

Talking to Millennium Post, Kaptan Singh, Neha’s father shared his fears about the fact that any step taken by them will cost them dearly.

“I am more bothered about my daughter. Main koi bhi kadam jald baazi mein nahi uthana chahta abhi. Meri beti ke future ka sawal hai. (I don’t want to take any action in haste. This is about my daughter’s future),” said the girl’s father.

“You know how the society works. Although my daughter is not at fault, they will make her life hell if she takes any step against her in-laws and their family. Even if a man is at fault, he has nothing to lose. But his wife is the one who ends up paying the price for his misdeeds,” he said.

“I heard about that girl’s family approaching the top cop the previous day to seek justice. They are doing what they deem right. I have other children whom I have to fend for and marry. How can I risk their lives just to seek justice for my one child,” he replied on being questioned about Aarzoo’s family going to meet Delhi Police Commissioner B S Bassi. The girl, Neha Rathi is the sole witness in the sensational murder case of DU student Aarzoo Singh Chauhan since she was the first person to detect the foul smell coming from the room where she was made to sit after her marriage to Naveen on February 4. The room was adjacent to the ventilation shaft where Aarzoo’s body was stuffed.

“We have not registered a case against the Khatri family for breach of trust. These matters are to be solved as time passes by. We will go over to their house and hold discussions,” added the father.
Meanwhile, Vijay Singh, Deputy Commissioner of Police (North-west)said: “The girl’s family has not registered any case.”
