Negativity is by-product of Prime Minister’s inaction: BJP

Hitting out at PM Manmohan Singh, the Bharatiya Janata Party on Thursday said he was trying to mislead the country by stating that the ‘infirmity of law’ was preventing the government from taking action in corruption cases. Quoting Singh’s Wednesday speech that the mindless atmosphere of negativity over corruption could do no good, the BJP said the most shameful examples of loot of public money were in his regime. ‘The negativity and pessimism in the people of the country is a direct by-product of gross inaction, callous indifference and conscious institutional subversion under you,’ said BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad. He said the PM was trying to mislead the country by pointing out that ‘infirmity of law’ was preventing him from taking action.

‘We want to ask PM few questions - Kalmadi was the ugliest face of Commonwealth Games but CBI did not charge; which law prevented you? Similarly, Delhi CM Sheila Dikshit was indicted by Shunglu Committee but no action was taken against her,’ said Prasad.
