Need to conduct survey on homeless people: Khattar

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Friday stressed on the need to conduct a detailed survey on homeless people in the state, so that the government could work on their rehabilitation under the Centre’s scheme – ‘Housing for All’ by 2022. He also directed the officials concerned to identify vacant plots in the villages for the same.

Khattar, who met Union Minister Birender Singh on Friday, said the houses would be constructed as per the guidelines issued by the Union Ministry of Rural Development and <g data-gr-id="22">Panchyati</g> Raj.

The Chief Minister said rural development is his government’s priority. He lashed out at the previous governments for the poor upkeep of rural areas, adding that it was the reason why people were migrating to urban areas, making them overcrowded.

To decongest urban areas and change the attitude of people towards rural areas, the government will develop villages at par with urban areas. The CM directed the officials concerned to finalise the parameters of the ‘Gram Adarsh Yojna’ so that MLAs could choose villages for development. To ensure connectivity to every village, Khattar asked the officers to furnish details of roads that needed to be repaired under the Pradhan Mantri Gramin Sadak Yojna (PMGSY). The Chief Minister sought the Centre’s assistance for setting up of ‘Gram Sachivalyas’ in the state. In the first phase, <g data-gr-id="30">sachivalyas</g> would be constructed in 1,000 villages.
