After a lawyer was shot dead last week, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) spokesperson Dilip Pandey’s meeting with Delhi police commissioner Alok Kumar Verma to demand the arrest and custodial interrogation of BJP leader Karan Singh Tanwar, in connection with the murder has been postponed until further notice.
Mohammed Moin Khan, a lawyer and an assistant legal advisor with NDMC, was shot dead last week. The AAP has alleged that NDMC vice-chairman Karan Singh Tanwar had threatened the 57-year-old lawyer with dire consequences a few days before his murder.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh had announced a compensation of Rs one crore and Rs 25 lakh respectively to Khan’s family. NDMC has also offered a job to one of Khan’s family members and allotted a three-tier house to them.
Police have questioned Khan’s colleagues who claimed that he was an honest officer and forthright in his dealings. The investigators, however, came to know that Khan was once suspended by NDMC on charges of misconduct, 11 years ago. Earlier AAP demanded immediate sacking of BJP leader Karan Singh Tanwar’s complicity with the murder of NDMC official Mohammed Moin Khan. The party also demanded for his arrest and custodial interrogation to ascertain his role in the gruesome murder. Tanwar is the Vice Chairman of NDMC.
