NDMC begins tree plantation drive

 In a bid to achieve the target of planting two lakh saplings fixed for the current monsoon season and to enhance the green cover area, New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) on Friday launched its ‘Tree Plantation Drive’ by planting 5,000 saplings in the premises of about 54 NDMC schools, Delhi government, private schools and other educational institutions located in its area. 

The Council announced to carry out the drive till mid August so that it can achieve the target. “The NDMC, in order to increase green cover, has started the drive in which trees were planted in several phases. 

In the first phase, we have covered school premises and in the later phases, plant saplings in markets, residential area, government/non-government institution premises and areas where diplomats reside,” said Chairman Naresh Kumar while participating in the event.
