NCW celebrates Int’l Women’s Day

To commemorate International Women’s Day, the National Commission for Women (NCW) in collaboration with the Ministry of Women & Child, Govt of India and Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) organised a National Consultation on  “Creating an Empowering Environment for Women” at Vigyan Bhawan. 

Maneka Gandhi, minister for Women & Child Development, who was the chief guest for the occasion, inaugurated the event.  Lalitha Kumaramangalam, chairperson, NCW delivered the welcome address.

The consultation was conducted to create an environment for women, where they can get good education and enhance their skills and entrepreneurship to empower themselves and lead a healthy and safe life. Three sessions were held on different topics, with the first being that on – education, skill and entrepreneurship; the second on – health and nutrition and the third on – sexual harassment at workplace and violence against women. D V Prasad, member secretary, NCW, moderated the discussions. Laldignliani Sailo, Shamina Shafiq, Hemlata Kheria, members and other officials of the Commission were also present on the occasion.
