NCRPB to support 9 transport infra projects in UP and Haryana

In a major decision, the National Capital Region Planning Board (NCRPB) on Tuesday decided to support nine transport infrastructure projects in Uttar Pradesh and Haryana that will substantially improve traffic, besides reducing pollution , thereby benefitting Delhi and adjoining areas. 

The Project Sanctioning and Monitoring Group of the NCRPB, chaired by Madhusudhan Prasad, secretary in the Ministry of Urban Development (MoUD), on Tuesday discussed these projects worth Rs 7,838 crore and decided to provde a loan of Rs 3,113 crore. 

Senior officials from the Ministry of Urban Development, NCRPB, Delhi Development Authority, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation, Delhi Police and senior government officials from Haryana and UP attended the meeting. Two infrastructure projects in UP will cost Rs 6,681 crore, for which the NCRPB will provide Rs 2,287 crore. Haryana has proposed seven projects at a cost of Rs 1,157 crore and will get a loan of Rs 726 crore.

The NCRPB will also be providing  a loan of Rs 700 crore for the development of six-lane elevated road in Ghaziabad.
