Navi Mumbai is a bit better than Mumbai as far as its infrastructure development is concerned and it has the potential to become a parallel financial centre, Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithiviraj Chavan said here on Thursday.
He made the statement after inaugurating the Exhibition and Convention Centre at Vashi developed by City and Industrial Development Corporation of Maharashtra (CIDCO). Spread over 7.5 acres of land, the Vashi Exhibition Centre is one of CIDCO’s prestigious projects, built at a cost of Rs 256 crore. It is one of the five exhibition centres which can compete with global standards.
By creating such an iconic building, CIDCO has achieved all the key parameters to make Navi Mumbai an international city, he said.
Earlier, the foundation stone for a proposed Patrakar Bhavan to be constructed at a cost of around Rs 2 crore at Seawoods Nerul was also laid.
