Commonwealth Games bronze winner Amandeep Singh of Railways and 2009 Asian Championship gold medallist Nanao Singh of Services notched up contrasting wins to reach the quarterfinals of the 59th Sahara men’s national boxing championship on Thursday.Nanao thrashed Sumit Bansi of Goa 17-5 in the third round of light fly weight division and will next take on Vinod Kumar of SPSB. Amandeep, however, had to work a bit hard against Lal Chand Shaw of West Bengal before showing his class. He led 3-1 in the first round and 3-2 in the second. He upped the ante in the final round and went on to win the bout 10-4. In the quarters, he will face Salman Anwar of Maharashtra. Chhote Lal Yadav of the services and V Durga Rao of Karnataka also powered through to the semi-finals of the bantam weight division with impressive victories.
