Congress has announced that the publication of National Herald and Navjivan will resume soon. Associated Journals Limited through a statement announced that Congress mouthpiece, which became defunct in 2008, shall resume publication and senior journalist Neelabh Mishra will be its new Editor-in-Chief.

“National Herald was started in 1937 by Pandit Jawaharalal Nehru and now company has taken steps to resume the publication of its English and Hindi newspapers National Herald and Navjivan. Soon we will also revive Quami Awaz, the defunct Urdu newspaper. The plan is also to roll out online edition of this paper,” Congress Treasurer Motilal Vora, who is also managing director of AJL Limited, announced on Wednesday.

National Herald when started in 1937 had a tag line ‘Freedom is in Peril, Defend it with All your might’.
“The publications shall seek to give voice to the vision of Nehru and shall seek to occupy a liberal, progressive, secular space. These three newspapers will ensure that the same principles, ethos and values are followed to the hilt. All those deprived of voice will be given a space,” he said.
