Yami Gautam "brand ambassador ' for Global investors' meet
Shimla: Having set-out an ambitious target of mobilising Rs 80,000 crore plus investments, Himachal Pradesh government on Wednesday put the preparations for upcoming Rising Himachal Global Investors' meet 2019 on upscale mode.
Himachal Pradesh's BJP government, which has roped in representatives of 26 countries and 20 Ambassadors and High commissions on Wednesday appointed noted film actress Yami Gautam as the brand ambassador of the two-day meet 2019, beginning on November 7 at Dharamshala.
Gautam, who hails from Bilaspur district, will remain present at the meet and also persuaded to interact visiting delegations and top dignitaries to hard-sell Himachal Pradesh 's investment potential.
"I am thrilled about state government decision to name me as brand ambassador for this event," Gautam said.
She added, "As a proud Himachali, I see boundless promise in this event and hope it goes a long way in making the state self-sufficient, independent and strong in terms of infrastructure. I am looking forward to interacting with some great business minds from across the world."
Additional Chief Secretary (Industries) Manoj Kumar said Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the meet, and Union Home Minister Amit Shah will be guest of honour at the meet, which holds huge significance for the small state to make a big leap ahead in accelerating socio-economic growth, and make the state to transit from agrarian economy to an industry and services-led economy.
Already MoUs worth Rs 82,000 crore have been signed and more will follow during the event, he said.
Last week, Chief Secretary Srikant Baldi and Manoj Kumar had held a 45-minute session with Prime Minister Modi in New Delhi to brief him on agenda of investors' meet.
The Opposition Congress, however, has criticized the government for turning the event into extravagant. "This is highly unproductive publicity blitz to mislead people and open flood gates to Himachal on sale-II opportunism," said Mukesh Agnihotri, Leader of Opposition.
