UP: Infant among 7 killed in road mishap
Lucknow: In a devastating road accident on Tuesday, seven people, including a three-and-a-half month-old infant, lost their lives in a head-on collision between a canter and a passenger magic vehicle near Jaitpur village on the Mathura-Bareilly highway. Several others sustained serious injuries.
The accident occurred when the overcrowded passenger magic vehicle, carrying about 21 people, was travelling from Hathras to Sikandrarao. The canter, coming from the opposite direction, collided with the magic vehicle, causing both vehicles to overturn. The impact was so severe that the cries of the injured echoed across the crash site, prompting immediate police action.
Upon receiving the information, police teams rushed to the scene and, with the help of loaders and other vehicles, transported the injured to Bagla District Hospital for emergency treatment. Authorities reported that around 10 members of the same family were on their way to Nagla Imaliya village in Etah to visit a relative undergoing cancer treatment when the
tragedy struck.
District magistrate Archana Verma and superintendent of police Vineet Jaiswal, along with senior administrative and police officials, reached the accident site to supervise rescue and relief operations.
Taking cognisance of the accident, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives and announced financial assistance of Rs 2 lakh each for the families of the deceased and Rs 50,000 each for those seriously injured. He also directed officials to ensure proper medical care for the injured and submit a detailed report on the incident.
