U'khand to emerge as film destination: Trivendra Rawat

Dehradun: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat has said his State will soon be recognised as Film Destination.

Inaugurating a five-day Film Appreciation Course at Suchna Bhawan, Ring Road, the chief minister said efforts would be made to organise such courses in all the districts and added that from the film shooting, in direct and indirect manner, people in the state will get employment in large number. In order to promote the films, the state government has completely exempted shooting from tax, he said.

From the course, organised with the support of FTII, the youth of the state would get technical information about film making. From this, film producers would get expert manpower here. There is favourable environment in the state for film making. The law and order situation is very good here. The state government is making effort that natural beauty of the Uttarakhand should reach to the masses through the medium of films, the chief minister said.

Director General Information/Chief Executive Officer, Uttarakhand Film Development Council, Pankaj Kumar Pandey, said on the initiative of Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat, such a workshop has been organised in Uttarakhand for the first time. In the five-day workshop, jointly organised under auspices of FTII, Pune and Uttarakhand Film Development Council from June 6 to 10 at Suchna Bhawan, participants will be given information about the minute details related to the film education by the experts from FTII, Pune.
