St Xavier's College to hold counselling cell

Kolkata: St. Xavier's College, under the guidance of Rev. Dr. Dominic Savio, Rector and principal of the college, has taken the initiative of starting a counselling cell with a difference.

This time, it is for all stakeholders of the college including students, parents, staff and alumni. Earlier, students could visit the Counsellor on a campus twice a week. That facility has been expanded and now a team of five-highly qualified counsellors will be available in the campus from Monday through Saturday.

As a head-start, the college had organised orientations for the students of the departments of Commerce, Science and Arts on October 6. Spread across four sessions, the orientation introduced premier Counsellors, namely, Arpita Roy, Priyanka Bhattacharya, Subhikha Singh, Parmeet Soni and Kapila Mundhra to the students of the institution. Students were also encouraged to further their interactions with the counsellors.

"We must all be willing to take help from others as we work towards becoming more perfect," said Rev. Dr. Dominic Savio, Rector and principal of St. Xavier's College, Kolkata, at the orientation.

Speaking to students and faculty from the first and second years of B.Com, B.Sc and B.A. courses, he stressed on the need for students who want confidantes to approach counsellors.
