SSB to celebrate its 61st Raising Day on Dec 20
Siliguri: The Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) is gearing up to celebrate its 61st Raising Day on December 20 in at Ranidanga in Siliguri with a grand programme showcasing its achievements.
Sudhir Kumar, the Inspector General (IG) of the SSB, shared details of the event at a press conference on Wednesday afternoon at Ranidanga.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah has been invited to attend the event, though
official confirmation is still awaited.
“This event is significant for us. It will highlight the efforts of our teams, our culture, and much more. Cultural programmes will also feature prominently,” said IG Kumar.
The celebrations will include a grand parade on the main day, December 20, preceded by a dress rehearsal on December 18.
A wide array of activities, such as sports demonstrations, martial arts displays, physical exercises, and the traditional Indian acrobatic art of ‘Mallakhamb’, will be part of the event. Adding to the vibrancy, cultural groups from Sikkim and districts across North Bengal will present traditional dance performances.
The Toto tribal community will also participate with their unique traditional presentations, reflecting the region’s rich cultural heritage.
