Samvad Sangam kickstarts preparations for ‘Khel Mahakumbh’ to be held in Prayagraj from Feb 5 to 12

Prayagraj: Samvad Sangam, an event aimed at providing a platform for emerging athletes and underprivileged talent, was held on Thursday during the ongoing Maha Kumbh at Sangam Kshetra in Prayagraj. The event, marking the beginning of preparations for India’s “first-ever” sports conclave, set the stage for a “transformative journey in Indian sports”.

Scheduled from February 5 to 12, the week-long Khel Mahakumbh: Samvad Sangam seeks to revolutionize the nation’s sporting landscape by bringing together policymakers, athletes, corporations and thought leaders to discuss the future of Indian sports.

The Bhoomi Pujan ceremony was graced by Uttar Pradesh Youth Welfare and Sports Minister (Independent Charge) Girish Chandra Yadav, alongside Kreeda Bharati Uttar Pradesh President Awanish Kumar Singh. Several dignitaries, policymakers, and sports personalities were also in attendance.

Speaking on the occasion, Yadav highlighted the event’s significance in shaping the future of sports in India, saying: “Under the guidance of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, this initiative will empower athletes, promote indigenous sports, and create a vital platform for collaboration and growth in the sports sector.”

Organised by Kreeda Bharati, an affiliate of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) established in 1992, the Khel Mahakumbh represents a major step towards empowering emerging athletes and showcasing underprivileged talent. The initiative focuses on grassroots development, aiming to provide long-term opportunities and build a strong foundation for India’s Olympic aspirations.
