RPF arrests 43 unauthorised ticket vendors: Rail officials
New Delhi: Alert Railways Protection Force of the Northern Railways arrested at least 43 unauthorised ticket vedors during the peak festival travel of October, officials said here on Friday.
Festival time of Dussehra, Diwali and Chhat are the peak travel season on Indian railways. Taking advantage of the pressure for availability of reservation on trains during this period unscrupulous elements become active, providing passengers with tickets on premium prices in booking in an unauthorized way.
Taking cue from the past years the Railway Protection Force of Northern Railway was highly vigilant and was on a lookout for such unauthorized vendors. On receiving in puts the RPF team raided several premises and recovered tickets that had been procured through wrongful means. Electronic Computer hardware and printers were taken into custody.
In all 43 unauthorized persons were rounded up in the month of October and cases were registered against them under different sections of Railways Act. Also, 255 future travel tickets amounting to about Rs. 5 lakh were recovered from them, they said.
In a separate statement, the Northern railways announced that it will run an unreserved special train to clear extra rush of passengers between Beas and Rudrapur city.
The 04664 Beas-Rudrapur City unreserved special train will depart from Beas at 7.50 pm on November 8 to reach Rudrapur City at 7.30 am the next day (one trip).
In the return direction, the 04663 Rudrapur city-Beas unreserved special train will depart from Rudrapur city at 8 pm on November 13 to reach Beas at 8.45 am the next day (one trip).
