Road construction project inaugurated in Gangaprasad region worth about Rs 3 crore

Malda: The long-awaited road construction in the Gangaprasad area of the Mothabari Assembly constituency has begun with financial assistance from the North Bengal Development Department.

The formal inauguration of the nearly two-kilometre road was carried out by Mothabari MLA and State Minister, Sabina Yeasmin.

Minister Sabina Yeasmin highlighted the dire condition of the road, which had been neglected for years, causing severe inconvenience to residents and farmers in the region. To address this pressing issue, the North Bengal Development Department sanctioned a budget of Rs 2.87 crore for the project.

“This road project will significantly benefit the local community by ensuring smoother transportation and improving connectivity.

A 132 KV sub-station will also be built here to bid adieu to the low voltage menace. Many mango cultivators and farmers will be highly benefitted by the road,” said Yeasmin.

Further, Yeasmin inaugurated and laid foundations for roads worth total Rs 5.33 crore in Chanchal 1 and Kaliachak 1 blocks on Saturday and Sunday with local MLAs and officials present.

The event witnessed the presence of several dignitaries, including Kaliachak Block-2 BDO Bipratim Basak, District Council Public Works Chairman Firoz Sheikh, Gangaprasad Panchayat Pradhan Golam Kibria, and other local leaders.
