Railway Board chairman holds review meeting
New Delhi: The Chairman of the Railway Board, Vinod Kumar Yadav, held a review meeting of North Central railways (NCR) at its headquarters on Saturday.
While chairing the meeting, Yadav appreciated the NCR for achieving all time high punctuality in 19-20 which is more than 11 per cent higher in April-September 2019 as compared to the same period of last fiscal.
In the review meeting, GM Rajiv Chaudhry presented the performance of NCR, earning and expenditure, development of infrastructure, innovation and assistance needed from the Railway Board. In his presentation, Chaudhry highlighted many innovative works initiated by the NCR like hot box detector and hanging part detection systems which are automatic way side rolling stock monitoring equipment. The presentation also covered initiatives taken to improve condition of running rooms, grievance rederssal of employees etc.
The Railway Board chairman said that such systems are need of the day as with elimination of gates and end cabins etc. Yadav also emphasized that work of 160 kmph upgradation of New Delhi-Howrah route, which is already cleared by the Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister, is required to be executed now.
He further added that boundary wall work which is covered under this sanctioned is required to be taken on top priority which will bring down cattle run over cases substantially which is major cause of punctuality loss on North Central Railway.
