Outlay for passenger amenities increased by 63%: N Railways

New Delhi: As the Northern railway gears up to fulfill rail projects and passenger-centric initiatives laid out in the Budget 2018-19, a total outlay for new rail lines and double line projects at Rs. 3896.29 crore is envisaged to bring enhanced and quicker connectivity in the region served by the zone, a top official of the railways said here on Wednesday.
General manager, Northern Railway Vishwesh Chaube in a press conference said that capacity enhancement shall be a targeted goal and the zone has increased the capex for new lines by 63%. He said for greater modernisation and safety, the zone has also increased the allocations for new signaling systems with a noteworthy 93% increase. The other earmarked thrusts of the year include targeted projects for upgradation of traffic facilities, track renewals, electrical & track distribution works, he added.
