Oppn plans to raise issue of major economic downfall before Winter session of Parliament

New Delhi: The Opposition Co-ordination Committee on Monday decided to raise recent economic downfall before the upcoming Winter session of Parliament, especially on the anniversary of demonetization.
The upcoming Winter session might start from November 21, sources said.
The meeting was attended by seven non-NDA Parliamentarians Ghulam Nabi Azad (Congress), Derek O'Brien (TMC), D Raja (Left), Kanimozhi (DMK), Satish Mishra (BSP) and Sharad Yadav (JD-U).
Sources also said that the senior politicians discussed a number of issues and chalked out a strategy to counter the incumbent government during the session.
Meanwhile, Left parties have already planned a week-long campaign against the implementation of demonetization, while BSP has fixed 13 meetings, 5 in major cities and towns of Uttar Pradesh, and others will be in different states including Karnataka. The first meeting by the party supremo Mayawati will be at Azamgarh on Tuesday.
When asked, TMC Rajya Sabha MP Derek O'Brien, said, "Our party chief Mamata Banerjee has been raising her voice against demonetization for the last 11 months."
However, the final campaign strategy would be finalised by non-NDA contingent and after discussing it with other 11 stakeholders, who were not present at the meeting on Monday, Congress stalwart Ghulam Nabi Azad said.
The impact of the Goods and Services Tax (GST), enforced with effect from July 1, on traders was also discussed during the meeting.
Every month there will be one meeting of the Opposition Co-ordination Committee, which consists of 18 non-NDA political parties.
