Hunar Haats soon to be seen beyond Delhi

In a major announcement, the Central govenment on Thursday stated that it would promote Hunar Haat in all the states of the country to promote skills of minority communities in traditional crafts and cuisine.

Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, Union Minister of State for Minority Affairs (Independent Charge) and Parliamentary Affairs said, "The Hunar Haat will be organised in all the states involving cultural events. He said that the main aim of the initiative is to revive the culture of the forgotten minority communities.

"As the people of the minority community are forgetting their traditional crafts and cuisine skills, the Hunar Haat will provide them with an opportunity to restore their cultures," he added.

While speaking to the media in Connaught Place soon after the launch of Hunar Haat's original Facebook page, Naqvi said, "Two successful Hunar Haats have been organised in the capital. In our next phase, it will soon be seen in Mumbai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Lucknow, Patna and Guwahati."

Besides rare handicrafts, also cuisines from 13 states will be presented in the Hunar Haat at Baba Khadak Singh Marg at Connaught Place.

The minister also claimed that the haat, which will continue till February 26 in Delhi, has so far witnessed around 15 lakh people.

Renowned artisans and cuisine makers will come for the event from various states including UP, Rajasthan, Jammu and Kashmir, Gujarat, Manipur, Assam, Odisha and Kerala, Telangana and Bihar.
