WCD Min asks Hary DGP to act against gang duping people over BBBP scheme

BJP Chief Amit Shah may have called it a 'jumla' but fraudsters are coming out with various spurious schemes to cash in the 'jumla' of Rs 15 lakh reportedly promised by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi directly in the accounts of every voter. The Union Ministry of Women and Child Development was caught off the guard when she was deluged with quarries on a 'direct money transfer' of Rs 2 lakh per girl child under 'Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao (BBBP) Scheme' of the ministry.

"Initially, it seems a local network but now it appears like inter – state gang. We have written letter to Director General of Haryana police to director the district police chiefs to register FIRs on each and every such complain," said a senior officer in the Ministry of Women and Child Development.

He further informed that the FIRs are already lodged in Lucknow, Meerut, Muzaffar Nagar, Rampur and Moradabad districts of Uttar Pradesh. "We came to know about the fraud when people from various districts of Uttar Pradesh called the ministry inquiring about the 'direct money transfer' under the BBBP Scheme. We immediately directed police chiefs of the concerned districts to register FIR and investigate into the matter," he added.

The quarries are now coming from some districts of Haryana so the DGP has been asked to take action. According to the sources in the minister they also received some calls from South District but no police case has been registered so far with Delhi police.

"Some unauthorised websites, NGOs, organisations and individuals and spurious outsourcing companies have been found involved in the fraud and taking away hard earned money of the public," he added. However, the matter is under investigation, but the officers feel the victims could be in thousands.

"The thugs provide an application to the victims and charge from Rs 500 to Rs 1,000," informed the officer.
